Having Trouble with Text Notifications? Here’s What to Know
We know how important it is to stay updated on your library account, especially when you’re waiting on a hold or trying to avoid late fees. While we’re glad to offer text message notifications as an option, we’ve recently run into some problems with how those texts are being delivered.
The issue is due to the platform we use, which sends texts through an email-to-text service. Unfortunately, many cell phone carriers have stopped supporting this service or no longer maintain it. That means some of our customers are getting texts late, at odd hours, or not at all.
We’re currently exploring other solutions that would allow us to send reliable, timely text messages. In the meantime, we encourage anyone who has experienced issues to consider switching to a different notification method.
Notification Options
You can choose how you want to receive updates about your library account. Options include:
- Phone Call
- Paper Notices (by mail)
- Text Message (currently unreliable)
Notifications cover the following:
- Friendly reminders about due dates
- Overdue and final overdue notices
- Notices when your hold arrives or is canceled
- Automatic renewal alerts
- Account expiration reminders
